{December Daily 2016} December 11 In Which I Actually Have Two Stories!

Hi there and welcome to December 11 in my 2016 December Daily! I actually included two stories for this day – I know, I know, only choose one story, they say, but one story really isn’t complete without the back story. So have a look at my process here:

This is how my layout looked as a foundation page:

And here is my completed layout, including the back of the insert from December 10:

The first story goes a little something like this: Since Alan returned from Germany we have been running and running. On our way to Target for the third time in three days, he commented how he had been to so many stores and he listed out all the things we had done! I really got to thinking that this had to be included in today’s layout, so I created this to adhere to the back of my insert.

To create this side of the insert, I opened the December Stories 6×8 template No. 2, which is available as a Photoshop PSD here: Ali Edwards shop. (Link opens in a new window) Since my canvas size is 4.5×9, I added another text box at the bottom to accommodate my journaling beneath the photo. I also added the green wood tree from Target and the deer head clip from Freckled Fawn.

To complete the layout, I also added photos of Addison and Natalie decorating the tree itself. It seriously took us three days (!!!) to get to the point where we could add the ornaments, so that is exactly what we did at 8:15 last night.

My foundation pages for this layout were created using Tori Bissell’s beautiful collection of journaling cards which are available at her blog here: Tori Bissell blog.

The last card includes my final journaling which sort of ties the whole layout together. One of my favorite things every year is bringing out all the ornaments and telling all the stories that go along with those ornaments. There are so many ornaments that are really special to me and that represent some special people in our lives. I love sharing these stories with our children, and I especially love seeing their eyes light up when the familiar things are brought back out.

I am still loving the pops of red across this layout, and to carry it onto this card I simply added my journaling lines in red ink. Here is a look at the layout in the album itself:

I do love this project so much! This is the half-way mark for me, and I am thrilled at the progress being made. I am especially delighted with the memories and the reflections and the laughs I have documented in these pages. Merry December to you!
