Larkindesign Kids Scrapbook Albums Project | Emberlynn Edition Smells Like Teen Spirit

Hi everyone and welcome back to our Kids Scrapbook Albums Project! Today we are hopping into Emberlynn’s album to document a day back in Spring of 2018 and we are going to bring in a teen attitude, so come follow along! If you’d like to see more projects from this series, check out this link here: Larkindesign Kids Scrapbook Albums Project. Also, if you’d like an in-depth look at how I am creating our kids’ scrapbooks join us in the classroom, In My Pocket Kids Album Edition!

2018 feels like quite a long time ago now, doesn’t it? But this is the perfect time to document some of those favorite memories, and this one is pretty special. Emberlynn and Natalie were playing outside and they discovered an old box in the garage, so the broke it down and made themselves a tent. Then they were skateboarding underneath them, over and over again, having the time of their lives!

The Pinkfresh Studio Super Cool collection is the perfect teen vibe collection, and this background paper makes creating a layout super quick! I added some watercolor splatters to the background, using Jane Davenport watercolor brushes. These are the colors I used: Siren, Bluebottle, Pirate’s Gold, Starfish, and Jellyfish. They dried pretty quickly and then it was time to layer on some fun!

I treated the printed elements on the page as the place where all things flow from, and then everything on the right side converges into a point. The photo creates a frame work for the title, and I have tucked all sorts of stickers and die cuts around the photo so it has good presence. My journaling goes perfectly just underneath the photo. There are so many fun colors and happy things to look at!

To create a bit of dimension, I layered more elements on top of the printed elements. Some of the die cuts paired perfectly with the transparency speech bubbles! I also added a few enamel dots and puffy stickers because you can never have too many of those! The title is built around the die cut word TEEN, so I added the puffy alphabet stickers to create Smells Like Teen Spirit.

This was probably one of the most simple pages I have ever made, and all because the background paper made it so easy. Thanks for joining me today! See you again soon!
